Liv Antonecchia

Liv Antonecchia was born and grew up in Katonah, N.Y. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she majored in Craft/Material Studies, concentrating on ceramics and glass working receiving her BFA in 1994. For the next several years she worked in craft galleries and studios before starting her own home based pottery studio in 2003. In 2004 Liv and her family relocated to Charleston SC where they still live today. For several years Liv worked from her home selling functional stoneware pottery to area shops. In 2014 she opened up her own craft gallery representing local artists as well as her own. Today Liv works from her home studio in Mount Pleasant S.C., hand building ceramic wall pieces for home decor. Clay has infinite possibilities as a medium to create. The surface and form can be translated to achieve about any desired outcome and this keeps challenging me. I find interest in making separate components to create a larger piece. If my forms come from real life objects I love to give them unexpected surfaces. If not referencing a popular object I like to combine organic and industrial forms so the piece cannot be labelled. I love creating surfaces that are not typical for clay and makes the viewer question the material.
